Amer Anwar is a fresh new voice in crime fiction, and Stone Cold Trouble, the new instalment in the Zaq & Jags series, is another tense and pacy read. This time, ex-con Zaq Khan reluctantly agrees to help his best friend, Jags, recover a family heirloom. But Zaq is left wondering whether someone from his own past is out to get revenge when his brother is attacked.
I love Amer’s characterisation – Zaq and Jags are so vividly rendered. This ‘authentic slice of Brit Asian noir’ (Vaseem Khan) is packed with great dialogue, lots of humour and is so immensely readable.
