This week it’s time to delve into the glitz and glamour of the era of the Mitford sisters as they party their way round Europe, with, for the purposes of these books, maid Louisa Cannon in tow.

Louisa is a likeable, sensible foil to the sisters and their extravagance, and adept at helping to solve crimes to boot. This series is excellent fun and a great big stained-glass window into the lives of those in the 1920s.
